FastBreak Needle
The Seldinger technique is a well-established catheter insertion method that relies on insertion of a guidewire through a needle once that needle tip is positioned within the target space (vascular structure, pleural space, renal collective system, peritoneal cavity). The breakaway needle is designed to hinge open or otherwise, break apart as a method of quickly getting the needle off of the guidewire without needing to thread it all the way to the back of the wire for removal. This would allow for catheters that are preloaded over a guidewire to be inserted in a more rapid fashion with less steps and less chance for error.
